Mediterranean walk

At 50, I made the call to finally go after the dream I'd had since I was a kid.

It was my dream, not my wife's, and it was a lot for her. She was scared and had a hard time with it. Still, she said she'd come along for two or three weeks and then head back home.

When I was 52, we set off from Euskirchen to the Mediterranean, and in the end my wife stayed with me for the whole journey.

What you'll find here is the full, uncut version of the blog I wrote back then.

Diary

The journey the way I lived it and wrote it down. What I saw, what I felt, and what it all was like from the inside.

From packing and saying goodbye to the borderlands.

Germany

From hiking trails to bike paths, plus forests, small towns, and the first Belgian stages.

Belgium

A small country, a bit of downtime, and a fresh look at the road ahead.

Luxembourg

From the first bonjour to the Mediterranean, and quite a bit beyond.

France

Bella Italia, Liguria, and the final miles on foot.

Italy
